USIC Locator Calls Time Out on Unmarked Bore

"MANAGEMENT IS DOING THINGS RIGHT; LEADERSHIP IS DOING THE RIGHT THINGS." - PETER DRUCKER

Too often management and leadership get misconstrued. USIC empowers our employees to be leaders - at every level of our organization. Teddy's story of leadership reaches across the borders of our organization to promote damage prevention and safety with other industry professionals.

USIC's Teddy Venable didn't back down when a Louisiana excavation team ignored his warnings of unmarked underground utilities. Teddy knew from his experience as a local locator that there were buried utility lines on the site - including gas. Boring without confirmation of utility line locations is not only unlawful, it is extremely dangerous.

Unsure what more he could do, Teddy called his manager, who was able to get to the site and stop the boring process. Teddy then quickly marked the utilities, protecting the infrastructure, the workers and the community.

Both, Teddy, and his manager are to be acknowledged for their efforts and the industry leadership they displayed. This story is a perfect example of a technician using Time Out Authority (TOA) and "If you don't know, ask," - two USIC programs that promote collaboration among our teams to drive Quality, Efficiency and Safety.

USIC technicians are challenged daily to implement safety in three key areas: Infrastructure, Our Communities, & Ourselves. They positively impact their work environments, by design, and positive customer feedback is the best affirmation they could get. We are proud to share stories like Teddy's with the communities they serve.

Our field technicians don't just work in your community - they live there, too. They have a shared interest in overall safety and well-being. If you catch a USIC field technician doing something great in your neighborhood, we would love to hear about it! Share your experiences with us via Facebook or email our marketing team at USICMarketing@usicllc.com, so we can give our technicians the recognition they deserve.
