Worker to Worker: Chainsaw Triage

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 36,000 people are injured by chainsaws annually, and that number continues to grow. Medical costs for chainsaw injuries based on these facts amount to about 350 million dollars per year.

Medical costs are nothing in comparison to loss of life. Thankfully, for this Minnesota tree trimmer, USIC Master Tech, Chad Dejarlais, was nearby in his time of need. Chad was performing a locate request when he heard a lot of commotion and screaming. Chad found a man injured and without adequate medical supplies. He used his own training and first aid equipment to help the worker's team field-triage his injuries until he could receive professional medical care.
